昔から伝わる手法で、今も変わらずつくられ続けるウメボシ。
日本人にとって、ウメボシは食べられる伝統工芸みたいな存在だと思います。
私たちは日本の伝統工芸に現代の息吹をふきこんで、今日の生活につなげる新しい取り組みを始めました。
「UMEBOSI」と名づけて商品開発をして行くWISE・WISEとKIGIによるプロジェクトです。

bringing a breeze of modern taste to the tradition,
we attempt to introduce a new
alternative to existing lifestyles.
“UMEBOSI” is a product development project launched
by KIGI and WISE・WISE.

東京ミッドタウン ガレリア3Ｆにある「 WISE・WISE tools 」では、素材感を活かしたシンプルな器やカトラリーなど日々の生活をほんの少し豊かにしてくれる｢暮らしの道具｣を取り揃えています。国内各地から、伝統を守りつつも新しい技法と美意識によって生み出された生活道具を集めてきました。さらに今活躍している工芸作家の個性豊かな作品も並んでいます。 ひとつひとつ丁寧に作られた WISE・WISE tools の暮らしの道具はみな、愛情をもって長く使い続けたくなるものばかりです。
Located on Galleria 3/F of Tokyo Midtown, “WISE・WISE tools” has a large assortment of simple yet fine-textured tools for living that furnishes our daily home routine. These unique living tools created by active handicraft artisans around Japan are inventive yet true to tradition, at the same time maintaining a good sense of aesthetics. Carefully handmade piece by piece, “WISE・WISE tools” hope to introduce long-lasting tools for living that get better with age.

KIGI
2012年、植原亮輔と渡邉良重が共同でKIGI Co.,Ltd.を設立。企業、ブランド、商品などのアー トディレクションを手掛けるほか、プロダクトブランドKIKOF（2014～）や、洋服のブラン ドCACUMA（2013～）の立ち上げ、ギャラリー＆オリジナルショップ「OUR
FAVOURITE SHOP」（東京・白金）の運営、プライベートで制作した作品の発表など、自在な発想と表現力であらゆるジャンルを横断しながら、クリエイションの新しいあり方を探し、活動している。
2017 年、宇都宮美術館で集大成となる大規模個展「KIGI WORK & FREE」を開催。 2018年、大地の芸術祭・越後妻有アートトリエンナーレ2018では、「スタンディング酒
BAR・酔独楽」を作品として出品。
日本全国様々な土地の素晴らしい伝統技術が結集されるプロジェクトになればという思いでまずは旗を掲げたいと考え、印象に残るプロジェクト名と、愛されるマークをつくろうと思いました。可能な限り長く愛されるプロジェクトにしていきたいと思います。（植原）
伝統工芸で扱われる素材や技術は、ともすると“和風”のイメージに固まってしまいがちなので、これまでのイメージに偏らない、わたしたちが思う“日本らしさ”を目指しました。日本のお土産として、海外の方にも気に入ってもらえたらうれしいです。（渡邉）

KIGI Co., Ltd. was established in 2012 by Ryosuke Uehara and Yoshie Watanabe. Besides their graphic works for corporate clients
and existing brands and products, they have launched their own product brand KIKOF (2014),
fashion brand CACUMA (2013), opened a gallery shop OUR FAVOURITE SHOP, and continuously
creating personal works. KIGI are constantly probing new horizons in creativity, with
surprising and highly acclaimed results. In 2017, solo exhibition “KIGI WORK & FREE”
was held at Utsunomiya Museum of Art. In the following year, their latest work “YOIGOMA
‐ The Standing Sake Bar” was exhibited at Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale 2018.
Having thought of initiating a project that gathers fascinating traditional handicrafts
around Japan, we came up with giving it a memorable name and an adorable logo mark, in
hope of introducing a project that is long appreciated. ?Uehara
When speaking of materials and technologies processed with traditional craftsmanship,
it is easily associated with the stereotyped Japanese style. We would like to redefine
“Japanese style”, by inserting our own aesthetics without going off the track. It would
be great to see foreign visitors bringing UMEBOSI home as souvenirs from Japan. ?Watanabe
